Alberto L. Ferro, composer and piano
“Intimacy, sorrow, a rather thin but infinite line of beauty and a constant quest for truth. These are, whether I like it or not, the engines of my creative world. And overall, a discrete amount of love and faith.”
Alberto begins playing the piano at an early age, devoting himself to the classical repertoire. The creative potential of the instrument has always attracted him, whether it was from jazz, folk or contemporary art music. He studied composition at the International Academy of Music in Milan while graduating at “G. Verdi Conservatory” in the same city. He performed in Europe, Australia and United States, where he lived and where he obtained his Master Degree in Classical and Jazz Piano (WSUniversity). The Lionel Hampton Jazz Competition has awarded him in 2014 as outstanding musician in the solo category.
Improvisation has always been for him a privileged path for expressivity, and throughout the years he has developed a creative approach that aims to merge composition with improvisation, where genres dialogue with each other in an uninterrupted flow. His artistic search points at the full expression of the creative potential unleashed only when body and mind work in unison.

In 2017 I have been awarded an Arts Council Research and Development Grant to write her first one woman show, which received great acclaim of audience and critics.
“Elena Mazzon…takes the stage as Clara with a piano as her costar…She has done all this with unflinching pragmatism and humour celebrating Clara as she exposes the hypocrisy and the frustrations of a woman’s life then and now. Elena Mazzon is breathtaking as Clara…her brilliance, her devotion to the story, her creativity in its execution…Sometimes, on a rainy night in a small theatre in Sherman Oaks, magic happens…”
